Some examples of things to do to help reduce stress are: yoga, walking, hiking, golfing, dancing, exercise, reading, meditation, listening to music, visualization, deep breathing, massage, regular sleep schedule, staying organized, keeping a to-do list, tea with a friend, caring for a pet, and getting sunshine or using a light box.
Another way of managing your stress is through a creative outlet. It's been said that people with bipolar disorder are creative characters. Creativity helps you express yourself and your intense emotions. It can be an escape from the rest of the world. Creativity also increases your self-esteem and confidence. Some examples of creative outlets are: writing, journalling, singing, playing a musical instrument, painting, theatre acting, crafts, sewing, photography, graphic design, cooking, rubberstamping (that's what I do), and scrapbooking. Find your passion and give yourself a break.
